Mai Breech, Psy.D.

Dr. Mai Breech is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of California, with a private practice in West Los Angeles. She works with children, adolescents, and adults who carry unresolved childhood wounds that continue to affect their relationships with others and their overall personal well-being.

Dr. Breech has had a long history working with orphans and foster children. In 2007, she founded the Children’s Art Village, a grassroots non-profit organization that brings art and music to children in Ghana, India, and Nepal — giving orphaned children a way to express their creative selves without relying on language. Her experience with abandoned children translated directly into her clinical work with foster children who have aged out of the care system.

She completed her pre- and post-doctoral training at the C. G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles, and was trained and supervised as a Reiss-Davis Fellow, working with children from a psychodynamic perspective. She is currently pursuing psychoanalytic certification through the Institute for the Psychoanalytic Study of Subjectivity (IPSS) in New York, and serves on the board of OPUS Archives, a foundation stewarding the collections of eminent scholars in depth psychology, mythology, and the humanities.

She also serves as an advisor to senior staff at A Sense of Home, a nonprofit creating first homes for former foster youth, and as an advisor and consultant for Pressman Academy in West Los Angeles.

The Practice

An integrative approach — because not everything can be said in words

Talk therapy is one doorway among several. Dr. Breech’s practice draws on expressive and depth-oriented methods that reach what language alone cannot.

Sand play

A Jungian method using miniatures and the sand tray to give form to the inner world.

Dream interpretation

Working with dreams as genuine creations of the unconscious.
